MANAGEMENT OF SCHOOL RESOURCES: ITS CORRELATION TO PUPILS PERFORMANCE IN TIME OF PANDEMIC

Management is the arrangement of available human and material resources to achieve desired goals and objectives (Nwune, Nwogbo&Okonkwo, 2016). It is the productive use of available resources efficiently and effectively geared towards goals realization. Nkwoh (2011) observed that school principals must possess a wide array of competencies to lead schools effectively towards accomplishing educational goals, which has led to changing expectations of what leaders need to know and must be able to do. Heller (2012) outlines school administrators’ functions, including instructional programs, staff personnel administration, students’ personnel administration, finance, physical resource management, and community relationship management. Effective management of human, material, time, and financial resources is crucial for institutional sustainability and a school action plan.

This Study focused on the Management of school resources and its correlation to pupil’s performance in time of pandemic. Specifically, this study proposed to answer the following questions: What is the perception of the respondents on the management of school for instructional resources in terms of: Teaching materials; and Learners’ supply? To what extent do respondents perceive the management of school for human resources on: health, staff development; and incentives? What is the perceived level of management of school’s Financial Resources in terms of: utility support and facility development? How do respondents view the pupils’ performance in this time of pandemic?

The salient findings of the study were the following:

1. Instructional Resources including teaching materials and learners supply were perceived by teachers as “Much Provided” by the school.

2. Human Resources including health, staff development, and incentives were likewise perceived by teachers as “Much Provided” by the school.

3. Financial Resources related to utility support and facility development were perceived by teachers as “Much provided” by the school.

4. Management of resources (instructional, human and financial) is significantly correlated to pupil’s academic performance.

Instructional Resources including teaching materials and learners supply, Human Resources including health, staff development, and incentives. Financial Resources related to utility support and facility development were perceived by the teachers as “Much provided” to them as part of managing their resources within their school. It has a great impact on pupils academic performance as they giving importance to this matter related to resources that enhanced and leveled up the quality of education and for giving services that benefit both the teachers and pupils. As Covid19 pandemic truly affect our normal education and a lot of adjustment was made to make sure the continuity of education in our country. Pupils academic performance cannot be totally achieved compare before as we are in this type of distance learning. With the good managerial skills and strategies made by every school head and teachers, and with good management of these resources, pupils academic performance was able to caught up on the level of education even in this very crucial time.

Correlation between Management of Resources and Pupils Academic and Performance likewise, a significant positive relationship is found between their variables., The management of resources variables shows a great impact on Pupils’ performance. Through strengthening these variables related to resources that include Instructional and teaching materials that enhanced the quality of education even in this kind of situation we have. Human resources are correlated in maintaining a well-equipped staff to be more ready and also a healthy mind and body to be a more productive individual. With the financial resources, it supports the needs of teachers and pupils in maintaining a safe and good place to continue education even in this trying times.
