“Leaders instill in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals.” This famous quote from an unknown person set an impact on how school heads should manage schools.
Good leadership is one of the fundamental aspects of a good school. In order to achieve success leaders must posses’ qualities that will reflect how the school develop, matures and advances.
Lead. It is rightful for one’s leader to embolden their staff and learners to achieve the mission and vision of the educational institution. Good leadership leads the school on the right track and keeps a keen focus on its destination. It makes sure that the journey toward success is on a smooth track.
Empower. Good leadership establish power with the right superiority. Leaders must know how to use this power to make a right decision and empower each teacher and students to uplift their spirits to bring full potential especially in times of troubles.
Achieve. School success needs to be achieved thru the collaborative effort of the school staff, learners and stakeholders. The leadership not only of the school head but also of the teachers holds a great role in achieving objectives and finally reaching the aim of the school.
Dedicate. Leaders need to fully dedicate their selves to the calling of this noble profession. It might require your extra personal time while fulfilling your duties and responsibilities as a school head and as an educator. Dedication not only on title or paper but also in mind, body and spirit.
Enable. Let others lead; a best leader will be known if he produced another leader that is functional, productive and have a passion towards the school. The true evidence that your leadership is effective is when another leader emerges from your shadow and grow as another good leader.
Respect. True leaders always practice respect, respect for themselves and respect for others. Without appreciation for other people in the workplace, true leadership becomes ineffective. When we treat other people as ourselves we can easily identify their needs and wants, this will help leader understand situations and create a decision that will benefit all.
