Learning to gain practical skills and knowledge early on is crucial for young students, particularly through the Technical Vocational and Livelihood (TVL) track in our education system. Thus, there are several reasons why this track is a must for students to learn.

First and foremost is the skill development aspect it provides. By focusing on TVL oriented education, students are able to gain practical skills that can help them become more productive. This includes skills that can be applied to various professions and trades, enabling them to be economically self-sufficient. Practical skills and competences that are immediately useful in a variety of businesses are the main focus of the TVL track. Through practical experience, students can acquire highly sought-after talents.

Secondly, the TVL track opens up more career opportunities for students. Rather than solely pursuing academic tracks, the TVL track equips students with vocational and livelihood skills that are in high demand in the job market. By equipping students with vocational skills, the TVL track prepares them for immediate employment after graduation. This increases their employability and aids in career transition.

Third, TVL track encourages the learners to have a business-oriented mindset. Having their unique entrepreneurial and innovative talents nurtured, students can become job creators rather than just job seekers. We already know how tight it is nowadays to find employment, thus TVL track would be of great help to these students. They can utilize their skills and create their own enterprises, contributing to economic development.

Fourth would be its support to academic learning of the students. By developing practical skills, the TVL track complements the academic learning on other subjects creating a more well-rounded learner who can provide practical applications for theoretical knowledge. For instance, if a student is taking up a TVL track related to information technology, the skills gained can be applied to academic subjects like Research where technology is used for data gathering and analysis.

Lastly would be personal growth of our young learners. Engaging in technical and vocational education fosters discipline, responsibility, and work ethic, contributing to personal development and growth. Through the TVL track, students can develop traits like problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity – all of which are highly valuable in the real world.

Nevertheless, without proper implementation and support, the potential of TVL track cannot be fully realized. This requires the school, as well as the government, to provide the necessary resources and infrastructure to ensure the effectiveness of the TVL programs. Giving our students the access to quality TVL education is an investment into their future and the nation’s prosperity.

The TVL track encourages a culture of lifelong learning, as students often continue to upgrade their skills through workshops, certifications, or further education. By investing in the TVL track, students not only prepare for specific careers but also gain skills that are valuable in today’s rapidly evolving job market which would benefit not only themselves, but as the society as a whole.
