Lipa City, Batangas–The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office IV-A conducted the Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) Press Launch last August 31, 2023.
It was attended via Zoom video conference and Facebook Live by a diverse assembly of stakeholders, that include local media partners in the region, representatives from Local Government Units, academe and member agencies of the Regional Statistics Committee. The aim of the press launch was to enlighten the public about the significance and purpose of the CAF at the same time gain support for its conduct.
The 2022 CAF enumeration period will run from September 04 to October 25, 2023 nationwide. The census aims to collect and compile basic information on the agriculture and fishery sectors in the country of which the data collected will serve as basis for policymaking and other purposes, both at the national and local levels.
PSA IV-A Regional Director Charito C. Armonia encouraged the public to actively support and participate in the 2022 CAF as it only happens once every 10 years. She emphasized the importance of the said census in generating comprehensive statistics about agriculture and fisheries, serving the general public, government, business, research institutions and academia alike. She also articulated that this project will serve as a guide for policy decisions and development initiatives for the next decade.
RD Armonia also assured the public/respondents that the information that will provided to the CAF enumerators will be treated with utmost confidentiality, underlining the consequences for any CAF personnel who fail to adhere to this commitment, in line with the Data Privacy Act and Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 (RA 10625).
In a resounding call for support, RD Armonia stressed that the success of the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries relies on the collective support and cooperation from all sectors of society. This collaborative effort will shape the future of agriculture and fisheries in the Philippines, including that of the CALABARZON region.
