We live in a world where advancement in everything entails knowledge and application. Science – being a major contributor to these upgrades in our society — significantly improves our way of living and finds solutions whenever we are confronted with new challenges.
This endeavor in humanity increases the role of Science in a fast changing, fragmented and digital society, as well as its significance for politics and civil society. This proves more than ever the importance of educating our students in this field as it develops students’ scientific inquiry skills, values and attitudes, such as objectivity, curiosity, and honesty and habits of mind including critical thinking. With this, a number of advantages in learning Science could be enumerated that we could discuss with our students to improve their love for learning this subject.
Science have helped us to save time and money. Appliances like air fryer, oven are some of its products. Helping us to be able to just save enough time to do things that took a long time to be done 20 years ago is already a plus. Science has given us the knowledge as to how we are going to become a healthier individual every day of our lives – from preferring to eat vegetables from junk foods – science has gifted us the knowledge of why we should opt for healthier life.
Being in the education sector, the subject Science and technology have made significant contributions to our field. It helped our learners to be able to absorb a vast source of knowledge with the technology in education. To use multimedia devices, e-books, along with laptops and computers had helped us improve our way of teaching and learning specifically in the new normal.
Another gift of science is the world wide web or the Internet. Making us connected more and more these days at the tip of our fingers, Science made us become aware of the things happening around us.
With the COVID19 pandemic, Science had given the solutions to be able to contain the virus and put an end to it. From creating the vaccine to avoid the virus to teaching the public how to follow the health and safety protocols, Science provided us the needed knowledge to be able to transition from quarantine to new normal.
Some may say that Science is never ever going to be able to offer an objective representation of the real world – with lots of things that happen around us. It can, however, offer methodologically verifiable interpretations and can question certainties and trigger reflections. One of the subjects in our school — Science – pose a major role in the society. The responsibility to determine the why’s and how’s when uncertainty arises is being placed greatly in this field.
Above all things that were said, learners should be able to foster love for Science as it is something that we could not live without. It makes life simpler, faster, and safer. In our present situation – COVID-19 pandemic – it could help us to become better. It is one of the founding members of the modern civilization. Let us encourage our learners to become someone who understands the things around us. Through Science, anyone can make it happen.
