Laguna’s May 2025 Inflation Slowed Down to 2.2%

San Pablo City, Laguna – The headline inflation in Laguna slow down to 2.2 percent in May 2025 from 2.4 percent in April 2025. This brings the provincial average inflation from January to May 2025 to 2.5 percent.

In May 2024, inflation rate was higher at 2.7 percent. The downtrend in the overall inflation in May 2025 was primarily influence by the lower year-on-year growth in the commodity group of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 2.1 percent during the month from 4.6 percent in the previous month.

Meanwhile, increase in inflation rate was observed in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 4.5 percent from 3.9 percent; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 1.5 percent from 1.4 percent; and Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance at 1.9 percent from 1.7 percent.

Food inflation at the provincial level increased to 4.5 percent in May 2025 from 3.8 percent in the previous month. In May 2024, food inflation was recorded at 3.2 percent. On the contrary, slower annual growth rates during the month were observed in the indices of the following food groups:

  1. Rice, -5.7 percent from -2.0 percent.
  2. Corn, 10.5 percent from 12.8 percent.
  3. Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals, 9.9 percent from 10.5 percent;
  4. Oils and Fats, 7.1 percent from 12.4 percent;
  5. Sugar, confectionery and desserts, -1.6 percent from -1.3 percent; and
  6. Ready-made food and other food products n.e.c., 1.8 percent from 2.4 percent
