Ibinida ng Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), isang subsidiary ng Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), ang toll road development arm ng Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), ang kauna-unahang fully-electric patrol vehicle nito sa Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) na ginanap sa World Trade Center mula Abril 7 hanggang Abril 10.

Ang e-patrol vehicle ng MPT South ay isa rin sa mga kauna-unahang fully-electronic SUVs sa bansa. Ang EV ay pinapagana ng permanent magnet synchronous motor at kaya nitong tumakbo ng 400km matapos ang 45-minute charging lamang. Plano rin ng toll road company na mapalitan ang lahat ng fleet nito ng mga EV sa hinaharap.

Mayroon ring nakatayong e-charging station sa MPT South Hub, ang headquarters nito sa Imus, Cavite, na kamakailan lamang ay nakakuha ng LEED Gold certification mula sa U.S. Green Building Council (USBGC).

“Ang paggamit ng MPT South sa mga EV ay hakbang tungo sa aming layon na makatulong sa pag-decarbonize sa transport sector sa bansa, at parte ng stratehiya tungo sa layuning gawing ‘green highway’ ang 45-km Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), ” ani MPTC Chief Finance Officer and Senior Executive Sponsor for Sustainability, Christopher C. Lizo.

Sinimulan na ng CALAX ang paggamit ng mga energy-efficient at resource-saving technologies habang pinapanatili ang mga high standard road safety features sa kahabaan ng expressway.

Ang mga toll plazas sa operational sections nito ay pinapatakbo ng mga solar panels na kayang pagganahin ang operasyon ng gusali. Ang mga roadway light naman ay gumagamit ng LED fixtures na nakatutulong rin sa pagiging energy efficient nito.

“Ang mga sustaintable practices na ito ay pinatutupad din sa buong MPTC group: pagsisiguro na ang aming mga infrastructure projects ay isinasagawa with the least disruption para sa ating mga komunidad at kalikasan,” dagdag pa ni Lizo.

Bukod sa CALAX, hawak rin ng MPTC ang concession para sa Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), NLEX Connector Road, at ang Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) sa Cebu.
