Social-emotional learning (SEL) programs have been shown to improve student well-being, reduce problem behaviors, and enhance academic achievement. However, there is limited research on the effectiveness of specific programs, such as “The Leader in Me.” This study examines the impact of implementing “The Leader in Me” program on student well-being and academic achievement in a selected school setting. The study used a mixed-methods approach, including observations of classroom instruction, interviews with students, teachers, and administrators, and analysis of school records. The study participants were students in a selected school setting who participated in the implementation of “The Leader in Me” program.
The study found that students who participated in “The Leader in Me” program showed significant improvements in their overall well-being and academic achievement. Students reported feeling more confident, optimistic, and resilient. They also reported having improved relationships with their peers and teachers, and they felt more connected to their school community. Additionally, students in the program outperformed students in the control group on standardized tests in reading, math, and science. They also had higher attendance rates and lower suspension rates.
The findings of this study suggest that “The Leader in Me” program is an effective SEL program that can improve student well-being and academic achievement. The study identified several key factors that contribute to the successful implementation of the program, including strong leadership from the school principal, a dedicated team of teachers and staff, a supportive school culture, a comprehensive implementation plan, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. This study have important implications for schools that are considering implementing “The Leader in Me” program. Schools should ensure that they have the necessary resources and support in place to implement the program effectively. By following the recommendations in this study, schools can increase the likelihood that their implementation of “The Leader in Me” program will be successful and that students will experience the many benefits that the program has to offer.
