We live in a world where advancement in everything entailWithout a doubt, teaching Science is another experience with teachers with good aptitude, curious mind and broad knowledge of understanding on how things work, where things came from and has a diverse mind that enlighten the great young minds. Many people will ask – am I capable to teach Science?
Here are some characteristics of an effective science teacher.
Open curious minds. By nature, learners are curious, they always wonder on everything they see. They can easily fascinate on a simple thing that leads to different questions. As science teacher, you need to encourage learners to think, to marvel on things around them. Let them explore the world of knowledge and guide their queries so until their scientific minds satisfied.
Let learners think scientifically. Teach your learner to think as real scientist. To rely on facts and not only merely opinion. Involve learners in doing experiments and let them came up with their conclusions. Let them watch and developed keep observation that will aid them to formulate their own hypothesis.
Prepare and conquer. As science teacher you need to prepare materials for your lesson. Organizing lesson plan, the Science Laboratory is no joke. You need to be updated with the latest Science trends, especially in this vast changing world. You also need to conquer all obstacles that might hinder your way in the learning process. Back-up plan needs to be considered especially when uncertainties arise.
Minds that speak and heart that care. Every teacher, need a powerful mind that can educate, motivate and inspire learners in order for them to fully understand the lesson and lead to the application of it to their everyday life. As for the saying, “You can only share, what you have”.
And most of all teacher must possess a great heart that fuel their passion to teach, and continue pouring the water of knowledge for the humanity to drink.
