Dialysis Day. As a dialysis patient, I may never be eligible for a transplant due to my complex health condition, but I still feel a deep sense of hope and pride for my fellow kidney warriors.
***
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for PhilHealth’s historic decision to provide lifetime support for post-transplant medications and care. For years, transplant recipients have carried the heavy burden of lifelong maintenance without financial aid. This new policy brings them not only physical relief, but also the peace of mind they so deeply deserve.

Though I cannot undergo a transplant myself, I know what it means to fight for every day โ to live with chronic kidney disease, tethered to a machine, yet full of spirit. Thatโs why this milestone is so meaningful: it is a victory for all of us in the kidney disease community. Every gain for one of us uplifts us all.
***
I also honor the living kidney donors who give selflessly to save others โ their recognition is long overdue. May this new support system encourage more lives to be saved.
***
Letโs continue to call for better prevention, early detection, and access to quality care for all patients with kidney and related diseases. With over two million Filipinos affected, and one person developing kidney failure every hour, we must act boldly and with compassion.

To my fellow patients: your strength is seen. To our healthcare advocates and champions: your work matters. To Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and every policymaker who made this happen: thank you for listening. Of course big thanks also to ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ฉ ๐ฝ๐ค๐ฃ๐๐๐ค๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ค๐จ.
